There are many emotions that follow a daughters baby announcement. The first one was the realization that I was going to become a grandmother which was immediately followed by the horror of "but aren't grandmothers OLD and I am not old right!?" That one took a bit of time to work through. I am proud to admit to being a young 54 years old. In my mind, I feel as though I am in my 20's even if my body has different idea. When I was growing up, my Grandmother Morris was this sweet little blue-haired lady. She seemed so OLD to me. In reality, she was probably in her late 50's when I was born. I quickly decided that while I am OLD enough to be a Grandmother I am NOT OLD! Then came the feeling of the awesome responsibility that goes with being someones Grandmother. In my mind, a grandmother has all of the answers, she is the calm in the storm and loves you unconditionally. Will I be able to be that to our little Vaughan? I do hope that I can be that and more. I already have the unconditional love down pat! I knew that the first time I saw the ultrasound of this little creature and watched with amazement as "it" performed baby aerobics and kicking its little arms and legs in and out. I thought to myself I don't know if you are a boy or girl but I LOVE YOU and can't wait to meet you!! We found out in early November that "it's" a boy and will be called Vaughan. I have to admit that I don't know exactly what to do with a little boy but what fun you and I will have figuring everything out!
